Kolkata Knight Riders have bought De Grandhomme in place of Andre Russell who will not take part in this edition of IPL due to the doping Ban of 1 year. It will be a good edition, will help KKR solve their all-round issues.

De Grandhomme

Although it is not an easy task to replace Russel who has been a revolution with both Bat and ball, but after Eden Gardens Pitch relaid, it has offered some assistance to fast & seam bowlers, hence De Grandhomme can be a good addition, who can seam the ball enough, that it will make difficult for batters to score and also he is a wicket taker.

And additionally, KKR will get a lower-order hard hitting batsman, as De Grandhomme has batting strike rate of 171 in total 91 innings he has played in T20 Cricket so far overall.

So, if they choose to play him, he will make KKR a well balanced side, but on flat pitches they might opt to play either specialist batsman of specialist bowler, unless De Grandhomme really fire with bat at Eden Gardens or may be with ball, having some assistance from pitch.

Also, Gautam Gambhir thinks the same way, as he believes that Russell’s Absence is a challenge, but players must take it as a chance to be stars and prove themselves as match winners. He stated that, He as an individual and KKR as group look this as a big chance for themselves.

KKR will play their first match of the IPL 2020 on 7th of April. Let’s see, whether they pick De Grandhomme directly into the playing 11 or not.
